believe in love

i believe in quiet rooms
and quiet eyes, and quiet ears
believe in fingertips and faint smiles
and goodnights

i believe in wearing my heart on my sleeve
so you can see my everything
i believe in laced fingers
because it’s always a big deal
when you move I’ll move with you

most of all I believe
in kissing you.

We’re thigh deep in the creek.
My feet in cold water
fish nuzzle between my toes.

Are you doing what I think
you’re doing? Are you really
going to-

Warmth between my toes
I think I’m numb,
floating frostbitten. But
your hands are hot water bottles.

You hold my hand on wet rocks.
If I fall, you fall.
For the first time, I want to.

If I breathe summer…………………..they will catch me
dancing screaming……………………..after dark
eyes shut to fireflies…………………..within your arms
laughter will solve everything…..fallen like rippled stars

The Trigee is an unusual format of poetry, where the poem can be read in three ways. It must fit a related flow for each interpretation.

1. “Normal” reading: from left to right, then down
2. Left column down, then right column down
3. Individual columns

This is dedicated to my love.
